STORY

Ever since Eric can remember, he always wanted to do three things: start a business, make great creative marketing work and support people.

He has been lucky to have spent his life doing all three and is thrilled for what lies ahead.

These three things came together for Eric early on. Obviously, he had the lemonade stand, which then grew into a golf ball stand, then he built his first empire, Eric’s Eatery, that served friends and family all his best recipes—canned soda, flavored popcorn and anything already prepared but plated in an elegant fashion. He then moved in to his experiential phase of quilt, puppet, and saxophone shows. Marketing to friends and family who would kindly cackle their way through each of his performances.

This stuck with him as he grew up. In high school, he had several entry-level, industrious jobs. Interestingly, he also help found a youth ministry at a brand new church. It brought together his passion for marketing, entrepreneurship, and people. He learned how to authentically connect with a demographic and how to build community. Those three things stuck with him during undergrad.

Advertising is where Eric first fell in love. On his first day at TBWA\Chiat\Day, he got chills walking down the long futuristic hallway to Central Park in the middle of this magical office. He loved the people, the space, and the energy. It didn’t matter that he was doing grunt work, he was surrounded by the best people, making great work, and learning a ton.

In his years at Chiat, Doner and CAA, Eric was always pushing himself and the team to do great work. And he would surround himself with fantastic people — because that’s the real truffle of life. Eric moved from Los Angeles to Nashville because he believed in people that were heading up that new venture, and wanted to be a part of whatever they were creating. From there, he then moved to DC because Eric believed in the people that were rebuilding the VW brand. He then moved back to Los Angeles and joined CAA. It was the ecosystem of people and an innovative approach to marketing that brought him there. Since then, Eric has moved to New York where he has surrounded himself with amazing people and teams at Samsung, TIME and started his own consultancy.

Eric is inspired to work with brands and agencies to help them focus on purpose of brand and the people that bring that story to life. It takes a unique mix of both. And not everyone gets it right. But if you do, you can create simple, human connections with a brand that last a lifetime.
